Exploring 6-Fold Symmetry (4)4th July 3:00 PM BST (GMT+1)
This week we will re-create a classic 12-fold rosette found throughout the city of Fez in Morocco (image: Charlotte MacTavish). Each participant will receive a PDF handout detailing the steps undertaken to re-create the design, as well as access to a video recording of the session and additional supporting material.
Exploring 8-Fold Symmetry (4)Saturday July 11th, 3pm BST (GMT+1)
This week we will explore the family of 'Kite Chase' chase patterns, often referred to as 'Mafrooka' and recreate this classic Alicatado design (artwork @ammarjiman) from the Alhambra. Each participant will receive a video recording and supporting material.
Geometry Primer (6): Polygonal Constructions8 July 4:00 PM BST (GMT+1)
This week we will concentrate on polygonal constructions. We will go through all the main polygons, from 3 to 14, referencing the work of such key historical geometers as Abu Wafa Al-Buzjani and Leonardo Da Vinci, as well as more recent practitioners. A workshop video and additional supporting material will be available to download to all registrants
Kundekari Panel. Exploring Biomorph compositions within geometric shapesSunday 5th July 2020
Learn how to draw biomorphic compositions within the various geometric forms. We will design patterns that fit within a luza, pentagon, saft and various stars including the khatam. We will study wooden and brass plated panels and explore classic rosette compositions.

This week we will be recreating the rare classic 20-fold rosette from the Andalucia and Morocco (artwork Nooshin Shafiei). There will be a brief contextual slide lecture and each student will receive a video recording of the workshop, together with PDF handouts and a additional supporting material.
Ornamental Domes of CairoSunday 5th July 2020
Learn how to dynamic drop patterns that adorn the domes of medieval Cario This class will combine both freehand and geometric elements. There will be an overview of the terminology associated within decorative forms and explore the various motifs and compositional devices.
