Dome Building Workshop & Geodesic Structures

Órgiva, Granada, Spain | 25–29 November

Set in a beautiful mountain landscape overlooking the valleys and peaks of the Alpujarras, this five-day workshop offers an introduction to the geometry and craft of geodesic structures and dome building.

Geometry has shaped the art and craft traditions of cultures throughout human history — its principles arising from the rhythms and structures of life itself, beyond time and place. In this workshop, participants will explore these universal ideas through the study of symmetry, proportion, and spatial construction, investigating the geometric forms that underpin both crystalline and botanical growth.

We begin with drawing and constructing the Platonic solids and other spherical polyhedra, following a lineage of thought that extends from Plato to Leonardo da Vinci and Johannes Kepler. These studies form the foundation for understanding how geometric systems expand into three-dimensional structures.

From here, the course moves into practice, as we work together to build two different types of wooden domes, learning the joinery, structural logic, and construction techniques that bring these forms into physical space.

The workshop is designed as both a geometric investigation and a hands-on craft experience, offering a rare opportunity to move from drawing to full-scale construction within a supportive and inspiring setting.

Taking place just outside the mountain village of Órgiva, the course unfolds in a peaceful environment with expansive views across the surrounding landscape. Throughout the week, participants will be nourished with delicious, freshly prepared meals, and a range of local accommodation options will be available nearby.

    Booking will open soon.
In the meantime, please email info@adamwilliamson.com to be added to the register of interest.
